10th of Tevet Fast, this year will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. A Fast Day to remember the day when the Babylonians first laid siege to Jerusalem 2,500 years ago, beginning a long line of disasters for the Jewish people.

Shemot
The portion opens with the beginning people of Israel’s slavery story, Moses first years and his selection for leadership. This portion introduces some of the characters that will appear during the next portions and the next books such as Miriam, Aaron – Moses brother and Pharaoh – the king of Egypt.

Va'eira
Torah portion Va'eira is the fourteenth Weekly Torah portion and the second in the book of Exodus. She starts in chapter 6 verse 2 and ends in chapter 9 verse 35.he portion opens in the middele of God’s answer to Moses after he came back from Pharaoh. God explain Moses his future steps in four styles of speech.

Bo
In the pervious portion, Moses and Aaron brought on Egypt the first 7 plagues. In the beginning of the portion they bring the last plagues of Egypt: the locust eats all Egypt harvest. Afterwards, completely darkness thrown on Egypt and the Egyptian couldn’t see anything.

Beshalach
The parshah is particularly notable for the “Song of the Sea,” which is traditionally chanted using a different melody.The Sabbath when it is read is known as Sabbath Shirah, and some communities have various customs for this day.

Yitro
Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law suggests a system for establishing lower courts to settle disputes; God speaks the Ten Commandments to the Children of Israel amidst fire, smoke, and the sound of the shofar.

Mishpatim
Moses informs the people of numerous ethical and ritual laws and seals the covenant between the Children of Israel and God. Following on the heels of the Ten Commandments, Parshat Mishpatim deals primarily with civil law. The juxtaposition of the ritual with the mundane provides an enlightening insight into Judaism.

Terumah
God instructs Moses to collect gifts from the Israelites in order to build a Tabernacle so that God can dwell among the people; God describes to Moses the vessels and structures that comprise the Tabernacle.

Tetzaveh
God describes to Moses the clothing and anointing process of the priests. God instructed the Israelites to bring Moses clear olive oil, so that Aaron and his descendants as High Priest could kindle lamps regularly in the Tabernacle.

Ki Tisa
God continues describing the Tabernacle to Moses; the people worship the Golden Calf, Moses pleads on their behalf, and God forgive them.
[ ]
Vayakhel
The Israelites bring so many materials for the construction of the Tabernacle that Moses tells them to stop; Bezalel and Oholiab, gifted craftspeople, construct the elements of the Tabernacle.

Pekudei
The work of constructing the Tabernacle is completed; Moses receives the command to anoint its vessels and to anoint Aaron and the priests.
