Jewish Laws
Mikvah
The traditional rules regarding the construction of a mikvah are based on
those specified in classical rabbinical literature. According to these rules, a
mikvah must be connected to a natural spring or well of naturally occurring
water, and thus can be supplied by rivers and lakes which have natural springs
as their sourceLaws of Niddah
The Laws of Niddah are Laws
of Holiness. The Laws of Niddah, like all the Laws of Judaism, elevate
the physical to the highest spiritual level a person can reach. It
allows us to rise above ourselves -- not by ignoring the physical, but
by using it for spiritual gain. According to the Laws of
the Torah, it is also the responsibility of a husband to keep his wife
satisfied to the best of his ability, just as it works the other way as
well. Hair Covering
Jewish law states married women must cover their hair. Often Orthodox
women use either the snood, wig, or scarf. Others, such as modern
Orthodox women, use hats, baseball caps, berets, bandanas, or don’t
cover their hair at all. When in synagogue, however, all women,
Orthodox or modern Orthodox, have their hair covered.
