Barry Williams Opens in “My Catskills Summer”

If you are like every 70-ish New York bread Jew these days you’re going to love “My Catskills Summer”;  another Jay Kholos production that promises to take you back to the heyday of fun in the mountains of Upstate New York. Nashville residents can get ready for a March 11 opening at the Bernard F. Pargh Theater, Gordon Jewish Community Center, 801 Percy Warner Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37205. http://www.mycatskillssummer.com

“The Belsky Hotel is the fictional hotel setting to the emerging Jewish middle class,” says the star of the show, and former teen idol, Barry Williams. We all remember Williams as the heavenly Greg Brady on the successful 70’s sitcom “The Brady Bunch”. “Love is in the air,” for Williams’ character Abe Lipton – an 88 year old man in a wheelchair who realizes his time on earth is short.

The show features a lot of poignant nostalgia about New York in that time period including the song “My Manhattan” which showcases 40 cast members. “My Catskills Summer” has everything New York combined with an ability to take you back in time to the carefree days of sunshine and frolicking in the country atmosphere of Upstate New York.

Coming to a Theater Near You Soon

Jay Kholos also wrote A Stoop on Orchard Street – also a production about the Jewish middle class in 1950’s New York. That production was a huge success to audiences in places with large Jewish populations such as South Florida and New York where this show is also scheduled to open as well.

Barry’s Blog

Other Barry Williams news:  He has a very creative blog. If you are a fan you can communicate with him there fairly directly.  “My blog is a conduit to reach out to charities. I’m looking for a charity to partner with – something involving children. I would consider someone who contacted me through my blog,” he said. http://www.thegregbradyproject.com/. Mitzvah time!
